On Sunday February 17, 2019, Kron made his UFC debut. Gracie (5-0) fought Alex Caceres (14-12) at UFC Fight Night: Ngannou vs. Velasquez
Kron Gracie is the grandson of Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Helio Gracie and the son of retired undefeated MMA fighter Rickson Gracie. His uncle, Royce Gracie, won the first UFC in 1993.
Although Kron Gracie is 30 year’s old, he has been fighting his entire life. He says “I always practiced jiu-jitsu with the intention to fight. For me, there is greater value in a real fight than a grappling tournament. I’ve never wanted to be the jiu-jitsu guy who trained my whole life and would get beat up by a wrestler with a good punch. If I’m going to do Martial Arts my entire life, I better be able to beat everybody. I’ve always wanted to be the best fighter I can be, and I’ve placed no limitations on that.” Gracie had his first MMA fight in 2013 after winning the prestigious ADCC grappling championship.
In his UFC debut, Kron won via Rear Naked Choke. Like Father like Son, It’s a fitting tribute for the Gracie Legacy to live on. His famous father won 7 out of 11 fight’s via Rear Naked Choke.
It was also the first UFC win by a Gracie family member since Royce Gracie won at UFC 4 in 1994. Kron says, “It’s not easy, just being a Gracie doesn’t make it easy. Just being anything doesn’t make it easy. You don’t get out of this life easy, no matter who you are, no matter what you are. I think that the Gracie family is something that I’ve been wanting to represent since I was a little kid, and now it’s like ingrained in me. I don’t even think about it.”
